Restrict Access to CMS Via IP Address
The ‘Restrict Access to CMS Via IP Address’ setting allows an Administrator to restrict access to the CMS from specific IP addresses only. This feature is available to clients at the Connects Standard Enterprise Service Level.
To enable this setting, check the box labeled "Restrict Access to CMS Via IP Address" and then select the Save button. To disregard any changes made on the Edit Settings page, click the Cancel button.
Add IP Address
To restrict access to the CMS from specific IP addresses only, the IP addresses must be added to the IP security table in the CMS. To add IP addresses, click on the Settings tab and then click on the Edit icon.
The Edit Settings page will be shown as depicted below:
To add IP addresses, click on the Add IP Address link, The Add Company IP Address page will be shown as depicted below:
To add a single IPV4 address, enter the IP address in the Single IPV4 Address fields (e.g., 198.168.111.222)
To add a range of IPV4 addresses, enter the first three octets of the IP address (e.g. 198.168.111) in the IPV4 Address Range fields and the range of the last octet in the last two fields. For example, entering '222' and '299' in the last fields will add all sequential IP addresses from 198.168.111.222 through 198.168.111.299.
To enter an IPV6 IP address, enter the IP address in the Single IPV6 Address field (e.g., 2002:0DB3:BC10:EE01::)
A description of the IP address(es) can be entered into the Description field. To save the information entered on the page, click the Save button. To disregard any changes to this page, click the Cancel button.
Example
In this example, the following IP Address was added to the CMS IP Security table by using the Add IP Address link: 198.126.111.221
Once an IP Address has been saved, a Show IP Address link will appear on the Edit Settings page.
If any user tries to access CMS from an IP Address not listed in the table above, they'll receive the following message:
IP Address Exception
When an Administrator chooses to enable the Restrict Access to CMS Via IP Address option, all of the company’s current users will be required to access the CMS from one of the IP addresses defined by the Administrator. However, there are occasions (e.g. snow storm) when this restriction may need to be lifted for specific business purposes.
To lift the IP restriction for a specific user, click on the Users tab, then click on the Edit icon on the row for that specific user, then uncheck the 'Restrict Access to CMS Via IP Address' checkbox. To save the change, click the Save button. To disregard any changes made on this page, click on the Cancel button.
When there is at least one user who has the restriction lifted, an Administrator will see an indicator message on the Settings tab as shown below:

Show Company IP Addresses
To view the IP Addresses currently stored in the CMS IP security table for your company, click on the Settings tab and then on the Edit icon. The IP Addresses can be displayed by clicking on the Show IP Address link on the Edit Settings page shown below:
The IPs stored in the CMS IP security table are displayed on the Show Company IP Address page depicted below:
To Edit an IP Address entry, click on the Edit Record icon. |
